The 2017 Vice is a blend of 90% Grenache, and 10% Syrah. The Grenache is from the Swayze Vineyard in the Antelope Valley, and was aged for 33 months in a neutral oak barrel, where it matured into a soft, elegant wine, that truly highlights the region’s terroir. The remaining 10% of the blend comes from our Lobo Canyon vineyard in the hills of the Malibu coast. Structured and rich, the Syrah also saw 33 months in barrel, but spent the whole time in new French oak, which added tannin, coffee notes, spices, as well as vanilla in a supporting role.
The 2017 Versa is of course the exact opposite wine, or the same blend but "the other way around" which is the literal translation of the latin expression Vice Versa. This wine is 90% Lobo Canyon Syrah, and 10% Swayze Grenache, and is the denser, firmer, more structured of the two wines. Only one barrel each of these wines were made, and we are not certain if they will ever be made again. This limited-edition release is only available direct from the winery.
